| ALTAR SERVERS
The purpose of the Altar Server Ministry is to train
altar servers to serve the Presider at Mass in a
respectful and spiritually-uplifting manner. Not only does the
coordinator do the training but also sees to the scheduling,
and organizing to assure this ministry runs smoothly.
The training requires three or four one hour sessions in the church before actually serving Mass and one general training and review for all servers.
It costs nothing to be an altar server because the parish pays for the dry cleaning and replacement of the albs and any necessary books.
The Altar Servers Ministry is open to anyone between the ages of 8 to 20 years; with the only requirement of having received his/her First Communion.
When an altar server decides to retire, he is encouraged to join another ministry.
Every year during the summer the altar servers enjoy an outing that is fun and the parish's way of saying thank you for their service. This outing does not come from parish funds; rather it is supported by a parishioner's donation.
