| SHEPHERDS OF ST. TIMOTHY
In an effort to improve communication and fellowship among the parishioners of St. Timothy, the parish and community outreach committee has subscribed to an international, inter denominational ministry called the “Lay Pastor Society”.
We call ourselves “Shepherds of St. Timothy”
Every month, dedicated callers reach out to 10 -20 people on their lists to remind them that they are loved and appreciated by a fellow parishioner. The long term goal of the ministry is to form neighborhood networks within the parish to meet the needs of those in their immediate area that may not be able to access assistance elsewhere.
A one hour training session is required to acquaint the callers with techniques, follow up procedures as well as some precautions to be followed as they make their calls. Monthly meetings are held to update callers on the many resources available in San Diego County through city, county, state and church providers. The callers are encouraged to attend an annual retreat held at one of the many parishes involved in the lay pastor society.
Those who have been involved with the ministry since the beginning, as well new comers, experience a special comaradery with their flock and each other. We've enjoyed many social events together and draw encouragement from each others successes as well the challenges.
