Hospitality Ministry
The Minister’s of Hospitality’s primary role is to make the people coming to mass feel welcome. By being a visible servant at mass, attendees can easily see who to go to if they should have a question or a need. In addition, these Minister’s look for participants with special needs; the elderly, disabled, etc., and make sure they are taken care of during mass. Overseeing the four periods of the mass where the community moves about in the church; the entrance, offertory, communion and dismissal, these Minister’s help the logistics of the mass run smoothly.
The “job” of being a Minister of Hospitality is a very simple one, but I enjoy just being able to greet so many as they enter to worship.
Sometimes people arrive a bit frazzled and I like being a calm, smiling and welcoming energy to help them feel that everything is OK now that they have stepped into the House of the Lord. To let them know that no matter what situation they came from, the important thing now is that they are there. Then of course, I also like to be the one to send them off with a, “Have a great day!” message.
